SXSW London 2025: Creative Sparks, Big Ideas and What’s Next
- June 5, 2025
SXSW has officially touched down in London for the very first time, and it’s taken over Shoreditch this week with a packed line-up of talks, performances, screenings and exhibitions. Running 2–7 June, the festival is bringing together some of the most exciting names in tech, culture, music and creativity – and if you work in branding, marketing, content or design, it’s definitely one to watch.
At Profiles Creative, we work across the industries this event speaks directly to – so seeing all these conversations happening right on our doorstep is hugely exciting.
There’s a lot on offer. From cutting-edge AI and immersive experiences to the future of storytelling and brand ethics, the programme is full of insight into where the creative world is heading.
One standout moment came from Demis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind, who explored how AI is reshaping creativity, productivity and even society itself. Far from doom-and-gloom predictions, his session painted a hopeful – but realistic – vision of AI’s potential to unlock innovation across every corner of the creative industries.
Equally inspiring was Idris Elba’s session on creativity as a force for change. Reflecting on his own journey, Elba spoke passionately about the role of culture in breaking cycles and bringing communities together. His message? Creative work isn’t just about aesthetic or impact – it’s about legacy.
On the digital and brand side, Canva’s Duncan Clark offered a sharp take on how visual communication is transforming internal culture, especially for younger, hybrid workforces. His insights around building “visually literate” teams were a practical reminder of how everyday creativity can drive real business impact.
But it’s not all tech and theory – SXSW London is also celebrating some brilliant creative talent. Artists like Tems and filmmaker Jenn Nkiru are pushing boundaries and showing just how powerful storytelling can be when it comes from outside the traditional commercial world.
Big names like Katherine Ryan and Deepak Chopra are also in the mix, bringing conversations about identity, wellbeing, and social change into the spotlight. It’s a mix of voices and perspectives that reflects exactly the kind of thinking creative professionals need right now – broad, informed, and bold.
And with Shoreditch as the backdrop, it all feels right at home. It’s one of London’s most vibrant creative hubs, and the energy this week proves it.
Whether you're brand-side, agency-side or somewhere in between, SXSW London has delivered fresh thinking, bold questions, and the kind of cross-industry perspective that’s shaping the future of creative work. We’re already looking forward to what next year brings.
We’d love to hear what’s caught your eye. What’s been your highlight from SXSW London so far?
